I am a sociologist/ social demographer specializing in the social and economic integration of immigrants and refugees. Using nationally-representative survey and administrative data, I study what help/ hinder immigrants’ and refugees’ integration in the host country like Canada. I have published sole- and co-authored articles (with Monica Boyd, Feng Hou, Max Stick, Liam Swiss, etc.) in Demography, Social Science Research, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Population, Space and Place, International Migration, Journal of International Migration and Integration, etc.

My research also entails work and occupations, sports, aging, and urban studies. My collaborators (David Chafe, Peter Kitchen, Howard Ramos, Diana Singh, etc.) and I have published articles in Work, Employment and Society, City & Community, International Review for the Sociology of Sports, The Canadian Geographer, and Canadian Studies in Population.

I am currently an Associate Professor of Sociology at McMaster University in Canada. I also serve as the Vice President of the Canadian Population Society (2022-2024).

This website showcases my current main research projects – the economic integration of resettled refugees, occupational segregation trends, and immigrant remittances and foreign aid – as well as other ongoing research projects.
